membership and support

What does membership involve?

As little or as much time and effort as you can and wish to commit. The ‘Rules’ say that ‘All Members agree to participate in general meetings and take an active interest in the Society’ (the ‘Society’ being Above Derwent Community Land Trust) and ‘must support the Objects of the Society’

In practical terms that can mean as little as agreeing to receive occasional communications from ADCLT and sending your apologies for not being able to attend the AGM. Most important is that just by being a member you send a signal that you agree with and support what ADCLT is trying to achieve: being able to demonstrate community buy-in is vital in securing funding from the various grant-providing agencies

At the other extreme, members can be elected onto the Board of Directors and take a hands-on role in the management of the CLT and its activities. No prior experience or particular skill is required; just enthusiasm to make a difference. Members have no liability for the actions or omissions of ADCLT. All a member puts at risk is their £1 joining fee

Join ADCLT

Anyone over the age of 16 can join. It doesn’t matter where you live and new members are very welcome

Complete the ADCLT membership application and send to:
The Secretary
Above Derwent CLT

Any applications received are considered at the next director’s meeting. You will then be asked to pay £1 which represents a ‘share’ in the CLT after which the Secretary will confirm your membership

Donate

If you would like to make a donation, please send cheques made payable to ‘Above Derwent CLT Ltd’ to The Secretary at the address above. If you are in the area and prefer to make a cash donation, please call at the same address

All the money that ADCLT receives goes into the operation of ADCLT and the development of housing. ADCLT does not make a profit. There are no employees. No Member or Director takes any salary or dividend: all is voluntary

Every £1 we raise is £1 less for the families who will buy/rent our houses to have to find. Any donation, however small, is greatly appreciated
