New affordable homes at Pow Wood, Portinscale
Construction is now moving ahead on site after a short delay for the Christmas holidays and waiting for materials to be delivered. Significant preparatory work is necessary on this sloping site and building of retaining walls is already underway. Next the hard standing area will be completed to provide parking and a vehicle unloading space and then move on to the house foundations and walls. During March the United Utilities preferred option for the sewer connection is being installed in the road towards The Farmers Arms. ADCLT appreciates that the traffic control measures will cause some inconvenience to the village and has made every effort to ensure that the work on the sewer connection started before the easing of lockdown restrictions.
Above Derwent CLT is a non-profit membership organisation created and run by and for local people in and around the Parish of Above Derwent. It exists to provide permanently affordable homes for income-qualified people in the community. Pow Wood, a development of four affordable homes, is our first development. Grants from Allerdale Borough Council, Homes England, and Community Right to Build are greatly assisting us to build these homes.
